Ingenious Mastery

Over 30 traditional Chinese tailoring techniques have been recognised as China's Intangible Cultural Heritage, and Hong Kong's Chinese Cheongsam tailoring techniques were added to the fifth batch of the National Representative List of "Intangible Cultural Heritage" in 2021. CLASSICS ANEW is committed to preserving and passing on these unique techniques. Our Founder and Chief Designer, Janko Lam, has visited and learned from renowned traditional Chinese clothing craftsmen, inheriting their knowledge and experience. Our works reflect our pursuit of extraordinary artisanship and the constant evolution and fusion of old and new designs. We collaborate with renowned masters of the craft to pay tribute to the exquisite craftsmanship that embodies our heritage.

Embroidery Finesse

At CLASSICS ANEW, we pride ourselves on our commitment to exquisite craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail. The creation of an Oriental garment involves numerous possibilities in terms of its structure, shape, material selection, craftsmanship, and tool usage. Even the simplest part of the costume, such as the buttons, incorporates traditional wisdom. The frog buttons are not only a functional item of the clothing but also a work of art in their own right. Every detail of our pieces injects the richness of Chinese culture and showcases the designer's exceptional skills and attention to detail.

Artful Narratives

Each Chinese garment embodies the temperament and philosophy of its people. Traditional Chinese clothing is often designed with a "connecting sleeve" (or "kimono sleeve"), a seamless integration of the sleeve and bodice symbolising the Chinese concept of "yuan" (circle or roundness) - a representation of harmony and holism.

Laces represent the virtues of simplicity and subtlety, while knots are tied to bestow auspicious blessings of love. Every embroidery pattern not only showcases the charm and cultural significance of Chinese clothing but also serves as a decorative work of art. Within each stitch and button lies a unique story waiting to be told.
